The Cat Laughs Gala Opening show
The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival has, over the years, been a springboard for Irish talent such as Dara Ó Briain, Tommy Tiernan and David O’Doherty and a showcase for international talent such as Louis CK, Bill Burr and even Bill Murray. What’s unique about Cat Laughs is the deep affection and loyalty to the festival from comedians and punters alike. They love the intimacy of the medieval city, the venues and the craic of hanging out with their comedy heroes and friends. It’s like a busman’s holiday for them. For the audience, this means the comics are at the top of their game and they get amazing shows with 4 or more top Irish and international acts on the one bill. It’s been called “the best little comedy festival in the world” by the Guardian newspaper, and we couldn’t disagree.
The opening gala event for The Cat Laughts is held at The Hub, where the cream of the crop perform their best ten minutes to open the festival weekend in style. The venue provides for a huge value gala show with a dozen top Irish international comedians.
